Building and Maintenance Work
Important changes to the health and safety regulations covering building and maintenance work (Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM)) came into effect on 6 April 2015. These changes affect anyone involved in organising building and maintenance work on Diocesan property. You can also read our general guide on 'Roles and Responsibilities under CDM'. Guidance is also available from the Health and Safety Executive website.
All parish priests in the Diocese have received log in details to access their SafetyToolbox account via email. If you have not yet accessed your account, please do so in order to ensure your health and safety remains up to date. The Diocese has purchased this system for all parishes to use. There is no extra charge to you for accessing it so please make good use of it. Your parish will only incur costs for extra health and safety help or advice. Our Health and Safety Consultants will continue to be available to parishes to provide a more hands on service if that is required. Any additional fees you incur in respect of consultancy will be a matter for you to arrange with the consultants.
We hope that you will find the health and safety information available on the system reduces your reliance on consultants, however, we urge you to seek advice if you are not sure about anything.
