Jubilee Year of Mercy - Find out more about it
The Diocese of Arundel & Brighton is actively taking part in the Year of Mercy announced by Pope Francis and which began on 8th December 2015.
Bishop Richard Moth issued a finalPastoral Letter on the weekend 12/13th November for 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time focussing on the Spiritual Works of Mercy and taking action on poverty. You can read the Pastoral Letter here.
The Holy Year in the Diocese began with the opening of the Holy Door with Mass presided over by Bishop Richard at Arundel Cathedral on Sunday 13th December. You can see photographs from the day here. The Holy Door was closed on Sunday 13th November at 5pm.
There were also be Holy Doors at The Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation, West Grinstead, at Christ the Prince of Peace, Weybridge, and at Mayfield School Chapel which will close on the same day.
A copy of the Image of Our Lady of Consolation, from the Shrine at West Grinstead, travelled around the Diocese during the first part of the Holy Year, providing parishes, schools and prisons with an opportunity for a focus for the Holy Year celebration - Resources to accompany the Icon are available on this website. Prayer cards are still available for each housebound in parishes, enabling them to join with the Diocese through the Holy Year Prayer.
You can find the Diocese of Arundel & Brighton Handbook for the Year of Mercy including a Diocesan Calendar for the Year in Resources on this website.
