Over 150 People Becoming Catholics This Easter
Over 150 people together their sponsors and family came to Arundel Cathedral on Saturday 13th February to attend the Rite of Election for those to be received or baptised into the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Arundel & Brighton this Easter.
Bishop Richard Moth was present to welcome them on this final stage in their journeys into the Catholic Church from all over Surrey and Sussex. In a ceremony of prayer, readings and music he welcomed 66 people as Catechumens, those to be baptised, and 88 people as candidates, those who are already baptised.
At the end of the ceremony he greeted all of those who had attended the Rite of Election to declare their determination this year to become full members of the Church.
The Picture shows one of the Catechumens signing the Book of the Elect which was then presented to the Bishop as a record of all those who will be baptised at Easter.
Similar stories are to be found in all the other Dioceses of England and Wales as well as Scotland and elsewhere in the world.
